Here’s How Grok AI is Different (More Useful) Than Others (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot)

Though Elon Musk’s xAI Grok was late to the party, it had a niche strength. We are talking about the access to real-time data of the trends shaping across the globe.
None of the other chatbots like Gemini, ChatGPT, or Copilot has this strength. You can jump quickly into the trends, comprehend them, and talk about them without going through hundreds of tweets.
Nonetheless, it is not limited to just that. There is so much more that you can do with Grok.
What, exactly? Let me walk you through that in detail.
What is Grok?
First things first, let’s understand what Grok actually is before diving into its features.
So, here you go:
Grok is a chatbot created by xAI, which is a sister company of X (formerly Twitter) that excels at creating AI chatbots such as Grok. Grok is integrated within the X interface, and this is another key feature (more on that coming up) that makes Grok unique – being inside an already existing social media algorithm. That was Grok. Now, it is time we talk about its features.
Features Unique in Grok Over Other Models
Access to Latest Information
If we talk about the features of Grok, the first thing that comes to my mind is its ability to have the latest non-indexed information. If you have used X in the past few days, you might have seen someone asking Grok to verify information.
That’s because it has access to being updated within seconds, and that’s limited to just X being a social media platform.
On the flip side, ChatGPT and Gemini have access to information that has been indexed by search engines. Indexing on search engines takes time, and that’s why the other chatbots can’t have access to real-time updates like Grok.
For example, there might be a plane crash. It would be unreported on ChatGPT, whereas all the latest information based on the trends will be available on Grok, provided that you have an active internet connection. I personally use Spectrum Internet whenever I use Grok because of its fast speed, network reliability, and affordable plans.
In short, Grok’s real-time information sharing feature makes it a powerful tool for staying up-to-date.
Laidback Conversation
The next best thing about the Grok is its (usually) informal tone. For example, if you mention it in the comments of a certain informal thread, it responds to you in a casual way.
While this might sound like a gimmick, the difference is stark, and it actually helps. When you use the other chatbots, you’d feel that they are trained to respond robotically. On the flip side, Grok isn’t anything like that. It’s casual, laidback, and witty just like Elon Musk’s own Twitter account.
Oh, and you can talk to it about anything. That’s something you can’t do with ChatGPT because it has content and query filters. It is trained to respond to queries that its algorithms deem safe, it won’t even respond, saying it isn’t safe to respond.
These are the exact barriers that you can overcome when using Grok. That’s exactly what a lot of journalists rely on Grok to cover stories that would be irrelevant or unsafe on other chatbots.
If you want to have a genuinely laidback conversation, Grok is the best bet you currently have.
Understanding Images
Have you ever tried giving images to ChatGPT? What does it do?
In my experience, if the images are complex, the chatbot starts to hallucinate. This can be frustrating, especially when you are trying to solve problems for school or work.
For example, you might be majoring in computer science, and one of the tasks is to convert flowcharts into code. This isn’t an easy job for a chatbot. But Grok does it really well.
From what I have tested so far, Grok is best when it comes to understanding pictures. I threw textual as well as visual content at it, and it did well. There was no hallucination, and it did well to understand the context behind each image.
So, do try Grok for image-related tasks as it is better than most out there.
Text and Visual Content Generation in One Place
You have to go to Google AI Studio to create images, and OpenAI’s Sora to create videos. But Grok has it in one place.
You heard that right! I have been using Grok to create AI-generated images and videos in one place – the X app. The video capability is currently limited. But when compared to the first iteration, it looks way better than that. As for the images, they are good.
All in all, if you want to switch to another chatbot, Grok is a good option. Utilize it to the fullest, and do drop how you used it in the comments. I’d love to read them.
